🐣 Quail Eggs Enter Lockdown – August 2025 Hatch
Today marks an exciting point in our August hatch — we’ve officially entered lockdown for this batch of quail eggs!

🧪 The Numbers
We’ve got a full incubator this time:
- 116 quail eggs loaded
- Set in the incubator on July 15th
- Lockdown started on August 5th
- Expected hatch date: August 8–9th
We’ve been checking temperature, humidity, and turning daily — now it’s time to stop the turner and increase the humidity. It’s all up to the eggs now.
🕓 For those new to incubation, “lockdown” is the final stage before hatching. You stop turning the eggs and raise the humidity to help the chicks hatch safely without sticking to the shell.
🔍 A Peek at Development
Candling revealed promising results — the majority of the eggs are developing well. I’ll do a full count after hatching to share how many made it.

😅 The Pressure’s On
The power outages this week definitely made me nervous. The incubator had a short downtime when the generator ran out of fuel, but luckily it wasn’t off for long. Fingers crossed it didn’t affect the hatch rate too much!
🎯 Why This Hatch Matters
Every hatch helps us move closer to our long-term goals for Sulbi Talu — whether it’s flipping chicks for profit or building up our own breeding lines. With better records, more organized data, and continued learning, we’re building something solid here.
🔔 Next Steps
Once the chicks hatch, I’ll post a full update with:
- Hatch rate
- Photos of the babies
- Any insights I picked up along the way
Wish us luck — we’ll need it!
Thanks for following along with this hatch!
I’ll post an update once the chicks are out and fluffed up. If you’ve done lockdowns before, I’d love to hear your tips or stories — leave a comment or just say hi!
